Lots of Mail: Incoming

Some swap-bot postcards and a package sized letter from my friend Stephen.

Stephen was awesome and wrote on these cool magazine pages.

More incoming mail- postcards from swapbotters and a letter from a 365er I think, and a letter from my friend Kevin, aka The Fox, and a letter from my honey!

Another horse postcard. This one is from Assateague Island. I grew up only 30 minutes away from Assateague and Chincoteague, and I love and miss those islands... and the wild ponies!

Letter front and back to my cousin, Shelby. As of right now the Hawaiian Rain Forest stamps are the only fun ones at my post office, so I'm using a lot of their selvage to decorate these days.

Swap-bot swap going out for Poem in Your Pocket Day. The swap was to send your partner a poem that they can carry around in their pocket on Poem in Your Pocket Day, April 14th. I chose two gems from Shel Silverstein and printed out his drawings too, which just make his poetry in my opinion. It was for the 100 Acre Woods Group, which is themed around children's literature, so Shel Silverstein seemed very fitting.

For another swap-bot project, this time in a Jane Austen themed group. The swap was to send a postcard with a quote from your favorite Austen book. I can never decide whether I like Pride and Prejudice or Persuasion better, but I went with two quotes from Persuasion:

"I am not fond of the idea of my shrubberies being always approachable." and "But I hate to hear you talking so like a fine gentleman, and as if women were all fine ladies, instead of rational creatures. We none of us expect to be in smooth water all our days."

Adopt Penguin Books Postcards

I am setting up my own postcard adoption project, inspired by PostMuse's Orphaned Postcard Project. I recently bought a box of 100 Penguin Books Postcards...

So now I am offering them up for adoption. I will slowly be putting the list up of the titles of the books included. You can request a postcard of a book that you've read, I'll send it to you in an envelope and probably with a little note hello, and then on the back you'll write something about the book, what you thought of it, a memory linked to it, anything! and then send it back to me. And I will document it on my blog! I'm excited to start.

Adopting Some Postcards

I'm participating in PostMuse's Orphaned Postcard Project, where you adopt a postcard from her, write something on it and send it back to her.

I adopted these three postcards. Delaware, because I felt bad for it- no one had adopted a Delaware postcard yet and I used to live very close to Delaware on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

The lavender fields in Provence, because as an undergrad I spent a semester abroad studying France in Aix-en-Provence. The lavender wasn't in bloom when I was there, but I did go to a farm and soap-making facility. I discovered that I am allergic to lavender in large quantities.

And Toy Story's Ken because I LOVE Toy Story! If I had Toy Story postcards of my own I would totally send one to my friend Dana.

After I bought these at a local bookstore I found these online and I think that they're even more fun! I LOVE children's books. Who knows, maybe I'll crack and buy a pack of these off of Amazon and add them to the project.

First Mail Art in it seems quite a while!

So, front & back, and then with the message wrapped around it and secured with a sticker. Then, the envelope, made from another one of those things I pick up free from BC. I love how this turned out! Check out my awesome old stamps that match the stickers! And I love that my friend Abby is now living in a town so small that I just write General Delivery instead of a street and number, etc. How does she know when she gets mail? Does she just have to go check every so often? Ah, the mysteries of the postal system...
The "rock steady baby" was inspired by Aretha Franklin by the way.

Incoming Mail

My first letter from Felicity

It was a homemade aerogram (her 1st) and it came through the mail very nicely.

I love her Massachusetts stamp and the flamingo stamp!!

Funny thing is, we live in walking distance from each other! Maybe we can get together and make mailart sometime.

My friend Dana's first handmade envelope! It's beautiful, isn't it?!

I love the library theme and that it says "Contents" on the inside of the envelope. Very clever, Dana :-)

And she is coming to visit me tomorrow!!!

A St. Patrick's Day Postcard

I never realized how beautiful the Godiva chocolate logo is. I've only eaten Godiva maybe once or twice, but I picked up a free catalog on campus. I want that mug!! Going out to a fellow horse lover.
