Outgoing

a quite late Christmas send-out

I LOVE the little birds on this envelope.  They are so cute.  I'm very pleased with myself for pairing the Breast Cancer Awareness stamp with the stripey color changing paper.

Stamps!!!

Sent to Limner, who blogged about it here. I won these envelopes in a giveaway and I absolutely love them.

My letter to Tara got sent back to me, so I resent in a new envelope.

Old Ads Calendar

For Christmas I was also given a really wonderful page a day calendar of old advertisements. It was given to me partially because the giver thought it would be fun to use in my mail art; and he was certainly right.

So far these are what I've made with it:

American Airlines

Smirnoff Vodka

More incoming Christmas mail

I love these old fashioned looking cards.

This card was sent to me by a dear friend. It's an illustration from a set of children's books that she got me into. Can anyone guess what books?  First person to get it right gets a Valentine from me!

Becky sent me this card saying that I look like someone who enjoyed glitter. :D I certainly do!

one of the Missive Maven's designs

A couple days ago I had a few friends over to make Valentines. I taught them how to make envelopes, we had cupcakes, tacos, and pink cocktails and wine!

I only took one photo while it was going on, just of the mess we made on the table. I'll be sharing that and some of the Valentines I made soon.

Also, my friend Caitlin made a gif on her blog of Hubble, my puppy! It's pretty cute, even if I do say so myself.

A couple Christmas stamp gifts

I got this lovely stamp apron for Christmas.
I love how bright and colorful it is.  It gets a lot of use too!

I also received several rubber stamps of postage stamps. They are really beautiful and the images come out so clearly. I actually had several of the stamp on the lower left hand side (from Pakistan) for a while. Someone was giving away their stamp collection and I got a free baggie full of them. Pretty awesome.

Incoming Holiday Mail

Hubble is asleep on the couch next to me, which is the only time that I ever get anything done anymore. :D

I got a lot of lovely Christmas mail, most of which was stuck up on my fridge for some amount of time.

The cat card in the middle was sent by my mom and is held up by an adorable magnet that she gave me for St. Nicholas Day or Christmas. I love it.

Clay was a huge fan of the Weimaraner card from Stephanie. He had one as a child and they are one of his favorite dogs.

And it came in this awesome envelope!

I also received this lovely and original first letter from Ashley.
such a cute envelope!

Also... a certain somebody came to visit me. Here he is posing with some mail.
Apparently he likes Noodler's Ink as much as I do.

I'll stop there for now even though there's lots more mail to blog about. Got to go get ready for the rest of my day.

Cheers!

Meet Hubble!

Most of you know that I love animals and I've been wanting a dog for so so long.
Well my wish is finally coming true! Tomorrow I'm going to pick up my new puppy!

We are naming him Hubble after the cosmologist. He is half English mastiff and half Dogue de Bordeaux ( French mastiff) , so he's going to be a really big boy!
He is 8 weeks old right now.

Update on new 2013 stamps

So beyondtheperf.com is where I normally go to see the new stamp previews, but I'm also a "fan" of the USPS on Facebook and they also post the new stamps there. Except I recently noticed that they have posted a couple stamps on the Facebook page that are NOT on beyondtheperf. Unless I am missing something. So for those of you who don't do Facebook, here they are:

My log cabin

We got back home to Illinois yesterday after a nice trip to see family in Maryland.

I received an awesome pile of mail today! Just one of the great parts of coming home after a long trip. Sleeping in my own bed is another.

I wanted to share with you two things: 1) my dinosaur collection and 2) a painting I did with my grandmother when I was 6.

dinos atop the tv- my favorite on the right... parasaurolophus!
and a close-up of the painting. This is the log cabin that I lived in for most of my life, 5 years old to college.  I was 6 when I did this with "Memaw".

and here is just one of the cards I got when I came home! This one is from my sister-in-law.

More to come soon.
